1. Summary
This product bulletin
summarizes the NetApp Select FAS250 and FAS270 controller bundles, storage,
and software options available
for sale worldwide through channel partners only, using standard reseller and
distributor discount rate schedules.
The NetApp Select
FAS200 bundles include standalone and high-availability configurations, with
options for iSCSI or iSCSI and CIFS protocols included in the base price.
Specially priced storage bundles (exclusive to NetApp Select) are available,
as well as all other supported storage configurations. Additionally, the FAS270 bundles can be
ordered without FC storage in the head, with all storage residing in
the external DS14mk2AT expansion shelf (see sections 5 and 6for configuration
details).Also beginning in March 2007, a limited-time promotion on SnapMirror
licenses is available when purchasing FAS270 systems through NetApp Select.

What’s New
The March
2007Quote Tool update includes the following enhancements to FAS200 systems
ordered through NetApp Select:
- iSCSI Base Bundles: FAS200
iSCSI channel-only base bundle systems are now part of the NetApp Select
program. These are the same iSCSI bundles that have been previously
available; now these bundles are eligible for the exclusive benefits of
NetApp Select, such as the SnapMirror promotion described below.
- Storage Options: Choose from
specially priced NetApp Select storage bundles, or configure storage of
your choice.
- SnapMirror Promotion: A new
lower price for SnapMirror licenses is available for purchase with
NetApp Select FAS270 systems. Unlike other NetApp Select bundles, the
special pricing on SnapMirror is available for a limited time and only
on FAS270 systems.
List prices of systems configured using
the new FAS200 controller bundles and storage options are significantly
lower than list prices of similarly configured standard systems. The
lower list prices are intended to simplify and accelerate the configuration
and quoting process for our channel partners. NetApp Select enables resellers
to sell FAS200 series systems competitively, using standard authorized
category discounts, without the need for pricing PVRs. (Although
PVRs will be accepted, they generally should not be necessary with the
aggressive pricing available through NetApp Select.)

System Requirements
Requirements for FAS270 with
zero FC drives and all SATA storage in DS14mk2 AT expansion shelf
For these bundles, note the following
dependencies when attaching DS14mk2 AT shelves to FAS270 systems with zero (0) FC drives:
- A maximum of two DS14mk2
AT shelves can be added to any one FAS270 with zero FC drives. Using 250GB SATA
drives in two DS14mk2 AT shelves, the maximum external storage that can
be added to any FAS270 system with zero FC drives is 7TB (28 spindles x
250GB SATA).
- The total spindle count
support is 28: 28 SATA spindles in two DS14mk2 AT shelves, attached to
one FAS270 system with zero FC spindles.
- Three DS14mk2 AT shelf
support to FAS270 is supported in Data ONTAP® 7.0.5 and 7.1.1, 7.2
releases.
- Customers can attach
either DS14mk2 AT or DS14mk2 FC shelves to a single
FAS270. Attaching both DS14mk2 AT and DS14mk2 FC to a
single FAS270 is not allowed.
- For system power-up
considerations, two load boards will be installed in FAS270s configured
with zero FC drives.
- For future upgradeability,
customers can remove the two load boards that are installed in the zero
FC drives FAS270 and install new FC drives
- This new feature and functionality
support is available to NetApp channel customers and partners only.

Software Subscription Plans
All systems have SSP defaulted for a
period of 36 months. This can be decreased in 1 month increments down to a
minimum SSP period of 24 months.
